Life of Pi

Same like others probably, at the very first, I’m not interested with this movie. I thought this movie to be very Indian, you know.. Not being racist or something, but seeing our Indian movie history in Indonesia I think will give you a good reason not to make Indian movie your favorite, trust me..
Anyway those reviews are really good provocator, as I then find myself watching that movie ALONE.. can you imagine? Nobody wanted to join watching it, and thank God I didn’t really care with other’s way of seeing me in the theatre, thinking that I was so pathetic, watching movie alone.. Hell you..
At the beginning, swear to God, I think I already fell in love with this movie.. This Ang Lee, as usual, presented to us very beautiful pictures.. even I love the background music! The movie opening with those creatures walking around, is absolutely gorgeous.. the color, the movement, the expression.. I wonder about the effort they gave to have this stunning scene..
Then start to Pi scene, the dialogue is also very smart and funny as well. Again, Ang Lee presented to us the breathtaking clear pool water, where Mamaji found the inspiration of Pi name. OMG, can you find one scene of this movie who’s not beautiful? The ocean nite view is amazing as well, not to mention the Whale scene, the Island scene, the flying-fish scene, and so on..
I don’t need to mention one by one the scene.. it’s all an excellent plot, great scenes, smart dialogue, wonderful effect, you name it…
The only one I didn’t get from this movie is its tagline – how it make us believe of God.. I don’t think the message is being delivered that well.. When I’m done with the movie, I didn’t even think of God, just think and still amazed with the view and the story, and of course with Richard Parker.
Also the end, when Pi created a new story to the Japanesse, is a lil’ bit boring.. You have to read the book to make you understand about the metaphor.
Anyway I finally buy the book too 🙂
